A RECAP of Fourth Semester of Handmade U!

Fourth Semester RECAP!!

Our Fourth Semester began at the Hilton Garden Inn on Thursday night for our Welcome Dinner!  The space is amazing with lots of natural light and windows to open!

Lots of goodies to welcome the gals!

Name Tags were School Pennants and the stars represented each semester the ladies attended of Handmade U.  Shelley has attended all Four so far :)

The Students got to know each other over dinner, followed by Nothing Bundt Cakes :)  YUM!

After Dinner we all shopped at Vendor Night!  Lots of fun things!

Once we all shopped til we dropped we exchanged our swaps!  We had an ephemera swap, a handmade envelope swap and a one on one vintage box full of ephemera.  WOW did we have some fun looking at all the amazing boxes!

Julie got this amazing Cream Crackers tin from Jennifer.  Very cool!

Each gal picked a color theme that her partner used to fill up the box!  Michelle put together the above RED vintage jewelry box full of goodies for Laurel.

This Yellow Tin was Fabulous put together by Mollie!

A Green Box

This Red little box full of Red and Turquoise items was put together lovingly by Julie for Jennifer.

Kadee put together these AMAZING packets of ephemera for all us in the swap!  We were so sad she had to cancel at the last minute!  But hope to see her at another semester soon!

Michelle's ephemera swaps!  She's got a wonder stash of good stuff!!

Envelopes!!

More envelopes!!  WASHI TAPE!

More to come soon!!!

Handmade U - Spring 2013

Hi Everyone,

I am sure everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays like we are here! It seems that things begin to move at a super-sonic rate as the year rolls to a quick end. One thing I wanted to get ready before the end of the year is our plan for Handmade U - Spring 2013!! I know April seems so far away, but it will be here before you know it!

I still haven't finished sharing all the goodness that was our Fall Semester, but as I continue to do that, please consider joining us again, or for the first time for Handmade U - Fourth Semester Spring 2013. We will be in downtown Omaha April 4-6th for our latest installment.

You can find all the details on the new website! www.handmadeu.com Please stop over and let me know what you think of the new site! I am totally biased, but I love it. It really is the Handmade U style.

The instructors we have coming this time will be FABULOUS!!! That is 100% certainty, no if's and's or but's about it.

Dawn DeVries Sokol will be teaching an exciting class called "The Doodlicious Tapebound Journal" Sounds yummy!

Camille Serra McClelland will be teaching a very cool class called "Introduction to Leather Whispering". Ohhhhh love the leather, love creating cuffs!!

Hope to see you when the school bell rings April 4th, 2013!! Visit HandmadeU to signup NOW!!

Happy Holidays!!

Silver Bella Part 1 & December project Goals

Happy Holiday Season!!

That originally said Happy Thanksgiving...but as you can tell I'm a little behind! I've been busy busy busy with the house, and trying to get "settled". I am getting there, slowly but surely, and with the help of my parents...big time.

I am starting to see the floor of my art studio! I can't wait to get it set up so I can actually finish unfinished projects and start new ones!

In the meantime I wanted to share with you my amazing time at Silver Bella. This is the third year that I attended. It was probably my favorite time too!

This year my friend Lisa Stanton from Oklahoma came up to Omaha for the event!! Yay. I love traveling and attending these events with Lisa, it's EASY, and of course lots of fun.

I will say the lighting in hotels is just the worst, and I'm by no means a pro at adjusting colors...so I apologize for the offcolor pics!!

This year I signed up for quite a few swaps. And per usual, every time I try something new, I realize how I need to UP MY GAME!! These Bella's are AMAZING! I really need to think WAY OUT OF MY BOX, and go beyond what I think I can do. AND EMBELLISH EMBELLISH EMBELLISH. MORE IS MORE!!
My swap that I hosted was the Cupcake Swap. I was happiest with this one in the end. I spent so much time on my pages, and doing the front and back covers, as well as making cupcake pin buttons, tags, and I included a cupcake pen or pencil with each. FUN. Labor of LOVE!

The yummiest fun of course was making my cupcakes to take the photo for my page. The unfun part was the few pounds I put on from eating too many :) Oh well, you only live once.

I'll take pictures of each page to share soon.

All the women in my swap were just terrific to work with, and so happy to receive their books. Here are just a few of them:

I'll include each with their links when I include the pages.

That is all for now...SO Much more to come.

I am working on two December projects, you know because December is just usually a boring and SLOW month ;) I have blinkies on the left for Hope and Kari's Winter Stories class, and Shimmell's Journaling your Christmas class. Both are really fun..I am REALLY hoping to actually finish these projects this month....(and not just print out the instructions!!)

Wish me luck!!
